Help stop the recommended shuttering of all Connecticut Fish Hatcheries as represented in the Governor’s budget proposal. It is important that we are proactive and engage our Legislators in a discussion about this shortsighted proposal today.
Please use the Link below to locate your legislators and have that discussion.
When you do, please remind them that:
1. The fees from fishing licenses underwrite the budgets for the hatcheries and their personnel even if they may be diverted into the General Fund.
2. Both the resident and nonresident fishing communities generate significant revenues and sales taxes to the State of Connecticut every year.
3. The educational opportunity presented in our schools by the “Salmon-in-Schools” and “Trout in the Classroom” programs would end due to the lack of eggs.
