Salmon-in-Schools Updates
30+ teachers, CRSA Liaisons (and a Director or two) attended the October 6th Salmon-in-Schools Orientation, held at Eversource Headquarters in Berlin, CT. Leonard J. Tyl students presented their work from the 2015 Salmon-in-Schools season along with the annual Atlantic salmon updates from from DEEP staff. CRSA Directors Bell, Carroll and Kendall moderated the forum for Salmon-in-Schools teachers and liaisons.
Starting in Late October, a total of 534,072 salmon eggs from 61 females were spawned at the Kensington Hatchery. A few hardy Salmon-in-Schools teachers helped ‘run eggs’ again this year. Thank you to the hatchery workers for letting us get in your way.
Teachers are busily preparing their tanks for CRSA Liaisons to deliver eggs the first week in December. We are thankful to have Atlantic salmon eggs to share with our almost 6000 students across the state.
